Like a lot of people, I was one of those guys who loved starting a new career, building my skills and then demolishing boxing icons Ali, Tyson and Jones Jnr without having to have my cranium broken or be knocked into the shadow realm.
Boxing was one of the most fun games out there.
So what’s the best boxing game for ps4?
The Bad news.
Unfortunately, if you are looking for a high-quality boxing game for the Ps4, you are shit out of luck.
There are currently no boxing games available on the ps4.
There could be a number of reasons.
One being that the UFC has taken over as far as combat sports games.
EA, who used to make the coveted Fight night series, now focus their attention on the UFC which is likely much easier to gain commercial rights to.
EA is able to deal directly with the UFC to gain rights to fighters names, whereas gaining rights to all the household names in boxing would be a nightmare.
Imagine how much Money Mayweather would want for his name usage. We will get to him a bit later in the article too.
The UFC games supposedly offer ‘striking only’ modes but for the boxing purists this probably wouldn’t suffice.
The Good News…kind of…
Speaking of Money and Mayweather.
Jnr has stated that he is working on a boxing video game.
He also mentioned that he couldn’t be part of a new Fight Night series unless he had some ownership.Smart on behalf of Mayweather, but it’s easy to see why EA threw their eggs into the UFC basket…
Eddie Hearn, boxing promoter of Anthony Joshua has also hinted at making a boxing video game for fans.
To be fair, neither of these rumors are overly inspiring and fill me with very little confidence there will be a title coming out on Ps4 anytime soon.
If you are a fan of VR there is some good news for you with the announcement of a Creed VR Boxing game.
In this game you play as Adonis Creed, an underground amateur on his journey to become a champion
Creed: Rise to Glory features revolutionary Phantom Melee Technology for impactful melee combat VR and features fatigue, staggering and knockouts to bring a realistic element to the game.
Or you can create your own battles against a variety of opponents.
I’m a little more optimistic about this one, though it will require you to have a VR set.
So What Do?
Sadly you might have to quench your boxing bloodlust in other games.
